I should start by saying this whiskey lounge has a special place in my life. Two years ago it was where we learned we got approved to adopt our greyhound, Whiskey. It is also the namesake for the Best Doggo Ever. Take a look at him, you know I’m right.

Whiskey Down has an amazing selection of liquid gold on offer, and at fairly reasonable prices. Their cocktails are, for the lack of a better term, crafted by individuals who truly understand whiskey. I had initially wanted to get a Penicillin buuuut something caused me to change my mind.
I’ve heard so much about Japanese whiskey so I decided to get a flight of them. I had Suntory Toki, Hibiki Harmony, and Nikka Coffee Grain.

I don’t know enough about them to really describe them in detail. I want to know more about the Nikka because it was so complex. It was my least favorite of the three, but not bad.
The Suntory was smooth and easy to drink. Had a nice flavor, very comparable to a good blended scotch. Finish was a bit short. The first thing I said when I tasted it was “I need a bottle of this at home.” It’s very, very good. B+/A- sipping whiskey.
The Hibiki was my favorite. Complex, slightly peaty, and had an aggressive profile. While all of these three were 100 proof or higher, this one tasted like it. A-/A whiskey. Wouldn’t mind a bottle of this on my home bar either.
Cheers!
